YOUTH WORK
IT CAN GET MESSY

When working with young people who have experienced trauma it can be messy. TheY are in a continual cycle of survival, hypervigilance and protection. How this is displayed can differ from person to person and form moment to moment. As a youth minister what we can do to meet them where they are at, is create a safe environment physically, psychologically, and emotionally. By doing this we will enable connections to be made where the young person can see themselves the way Jesus sees them, create relationships together where they can learn and grow, while healing from the trauma of their past. As we are to be the reflection of Jesus, this all leads to them having a closer and more fulfilling relationship with Him.
