THE COMPASSIONATE CONNECTIONS PORTAL
Where you obtain Education, Resources, Connections and Awareness to effectively establish and maintain: Trauma Informed - Resilience Focused - Congregations |
HOW TO NAVIGATE THE PORTAL?This portal is separated into 6 categories:
Pastoral Care, Outpatient Care Alternatives, Recovery & Restoration, Training Programs, Advocacy Opportunities & Leadership Development. Each category includes resources such as articles, videos, training opportunities and resources. Think of this portal as a toolbox for your congregation to obtain a greater understanding of what may be happening for others due to their life experiences and what we as the reflection of Jesus can do to meet them where they are at, walk life with them, help lead them to towards healing and to obtaining a closer relationship with the Holy Spirit. A Trauma Informed and Resilience Focused Congregation seeks to understand the impact of trauma and to know how to respond. When we become aware of how trauma impacts us and why we may react to life after these experiences the way we do, as children of God who are striving to emulate more of Christ in our lives, we are able to see the need for GRACE. We can truly understand why Jesus said what He said, treated people the way that He did and lived a Matthew 7:12 existence. "In everything you do, be careful to treat others in the same way you’d want them to treat you, for that is the essence of all the teachings of the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 7:12 (TPT) There is a mandate in Trauma Informed Care that helps us to abide by this scripture "If you don’t think what I think, feel what I feel, experience what I experience, and see what I see when I look at myself, others, and the world around me, how can you possibly know what is best for me?" We need to first strive to understand, before we can expect to be understood. As you search through this portal please put on your detective glasses, listen, question, ponder and as you do challenge yourself, to view yourself, others and the world around you through a different lens. The same way as in the gospels Jesus challenged and encouraged us to not limit the way we loved and treated others. |
